Kenai Sees a Stronger Silver Salmon Return in 2025

The 2025 silver salmon run on the Kenai River proved to be a standout season, with many anglers reporting size and aggression levels that surpassed expectations from previous years. While the 2024 season faced stricter management measures, the 2025 run offered more consistent opportunities, rewarding those who adapted to shifting river conditions. As your Kenai River guided fishing services team, we were pleased to see so many of our guests connect with these hard-fighting fish.

Key highlights:

Bait opened Aug. 16, right as fishing pressure shifted from sockeye to silvers, with fresh coho arriving on the tides daily.

Both early-run fish and especially the late-run silvers in September have been healthy and slightly larger on average than previous years.

On Sept. 1, ADF&G increased the limit from two fish to three fish per day, per angler, reflecting the strength of the run.

Overall, 2025 has delivered a much more productive and enjoyable silver salmon season for Kenai anglers compared to the year prior. Make your plans to book a Guided Kenai Silver Salmon Fishing Trip with Mark Glassmaker.
