Our Most Popular Alaska Fishing Trips

Planning Alaska fishing trips can be a daunting task. With so many regions to consider and all the species to choose from, a certain amount of homework is necessary to ensure you meet your goals. After almost three decades of taking people fishing here on the Kenai Peninsula and surrounding waters, here are some of our most popular Alaska Fishing Trips.

It would take multiple lifetimes to experience all the Kenai Peninsula has to offer the visiting angler.  Between the Kenai and the Kasilof Rivers, nearby Cook Inlet, and the myriad of destinations on the West Side of Cook Inlet and beyond, the choices of where to go are endless.  That said, a great deal of strategy and timing is necessary to ensure you are in the right place at the right time and to make the most of your Alaska fishing trips.  No matter when you decide to visit and fish Alaska, we can help you select one of our most popular Alaska fishing trips available.

Kenai & Kasilof Kings

The Kenai and Kasilof rivers are by far the most popular roadside king salmon fisheries in the state.  Known for their exceptional large kings, both of these rivers offer a true shot at a trophy sized king salmon.  Keep in mind king fishing is not for everyone.  Even at the best of times, king fishing is seldom a “one after another” fishing experience and there can be long waits between bites.  That said, catching a Kenai or Kasilof king is a very memorable and iconic Alaska fishing experience and something you will not soon forget.

Kenai River Sockeye Salmon

Fresh from the saltwater, Kenai River sockeye salmon are like silver torpedoes and they offer very consistent and exciting fishing action. Kenai River sockeye average between 8-12 lbs. and are considered by many to be the best table fare of all the Alaska salmon.  Aside from their excellent eating quality, they are also very hard fighting fish and because you are fishing from shore and actively holding the rod, catching them is a very rewarding experience.

KENAI SILVER SALMON

For many anglers, Alaska fishing for Kenai silver salmon is one of the most desirable trips we offer. These aggressive and acrobatic fish bite a variety of lures and flies and we fish for them using a number of different techniques.  We can also catch them in many different parts of the river, ensuring every silver trip is unique.

KENAI RAINBOW TROUT

Rainbow Trout fishing on the Kenai River is truly world-class. The abundant population and the fact that you can literally catch the largest trout of your life on any cast makes Kenai River fishing for wild rainbow trout a very special experience.

Alaska Fly-Out Fishing & Bear Viewing

Accessing remote Alaska fishing waters via floatplane will elevate your pursuit to an entirely different level. By far the most popular fly-out fishing trip we offer is sockeye fishing and bear viewing at Big River Lake/Wolverine Creek. Here you will experience thousands of sockeye schooling in the shallows all while being in a remote fly-out location where there are no roads and bears outnumber humans.  We also do flightseeing tours over spectacular glaciers on the return flight so for many, this is a once in a lifetime trip.

Alaska Fly-Out Silver Fishing

Silver salmon in Alaska’s remote rivers are big, bright, and very aggressive. These trips often include large numbers of fish in small locations so fishing can be red hot. For those looking for a very unique and action-packed angling experience, the fly out silver salmon trips are consistently awesome.
